Nahid Karimi

My name is Nahid Karimi, and I’m originally from Kabul, Afghanistan. I am currently a rising junior at Solebury School in the United States, where I study on a full scholarship after living as a refugee in Pakistan. Throughout my life, I have worked to represent the voices of Afghan youth—whether through music as a member of the SA singing group, through athletics as part of the Afghan National Gymnastics Team, or through writings that I publish.

Since arriving in the U.S., I’ve co-founded EmpowerHer and founded Educational Support for Afghans (ESA) to continue advocating for Afghan girls and students whose opportunities have been cut short. Right now, my focus is on helping amplify the voices of Afghan women. I will do whatever is in my power to support them, no matter how small or large the action may be.
