Corvallis Senior Megan Kirkland Has "Experience of a Lifetime" at Nobel Week
Joining twenty-five other accomplished students in Stockholm, Sweden for Nobel Week was Megan Kirkland, a senior at Corvallis High School based in Montana.
It was shortly after Kirkland returned from Jordan when she applied for the opportunity with NSHSS. "I found an opportunity this summer to travel to Amman, Jordan, to work with refugees. It was during this experience that I realized I wanted to dedicate my life to serving others and help them become the best they can be." she said to a local news source, Ravalli Republic.
Kirkland added that she dreams of making a difference in her community, country and world. This admirable perspective is deeply rooted in how Kirkland was raised, which she highlighted in her essay submission. "I knew one of the first steps was believing in myself and with that I could make amazing things happen," she wrote. "As I grew up, I learned that it is not always easy to do this."
After submitting her application, she received the news that she had been accepted as one of seven students to receive a $1,500 travel grant to Stockholm.
