Celebrating your efforts

Clara Thompson, Westfield High School, Houston, TX

"I cannot do my job without such support from this organization because being the college counselor who serves 9th-12th graders, serving about 2,200 students, I have to make sure I meet their needs. This is one of the biggest ways that I can meet their needs, whatever they may be. Thank you for this opportunity to be celebrated for efforts that make a difference in the future of our generation to come, our future leaders."

"I chose to be a part of NSHSS after I was invited by one of my students because I wanted to live what I say. I always tell my students to go after every opportunity given to them because you may never know how it will turn out. Being a member of NSHSS has provided me with the opportunity to return to school to enhance my education so I can better serve my students."

"I am deeply honored to receive this grant from NSHSS. This support not only validates the importance of our work in promoting mental health and well-being in schools but also empowers us to continue making a positive impact. Working with students, especially in areas like mindfulness, autism acceptance, and social skills development, has been incredibly rewarding. Collaborating with colleagues and providing training for staff and parents are crucial steps in creating an inclusive and supportive educational environment. I hope my journey inspires other educators and students to pursue their passions and strive for excellence. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and the broader community."

"Thank you for this generous grant. Our district is suffering a major budget crisis and these funds will help my students not feel the brunt of this. Our class can still continue our amazing activities because of this grant!"

"Our Art Club is incredibly grateful to have been selected as a recipient of the NSHSS Club Cash Grant. This grant has been instrumental in allowing us to kick off our year with an exciting and ambitious creative project. To start, we are working on a collaborative short film, where our students will have the opportunity to experience every aspect of the filmmaking process, from writing the script to producing, acting, filming, editing, and even composing the soundtrack. This project allows our members to dive into the world of visual storytelling and explore their creativity in ways that build confidence and hone new skills. Following the short film, our students will channel their artistic talents into creating either a graphic novel or a short story, giving them the freedom to express their individual artistic voice while collaborating with their peers. Throughout the remainder of the year, students will continue to explore various fine art mediums, expanding their understanding and appreciation of different techniques and styles. Thanks to the NSHSS Club Cash Grant, we have the resources to offer a dynamic and enriching program that fosters both artistic growth and community collaboration. Thank you, NSHSS, for empowering our students to engage in these unique opportunities and to deepen their passion for the arts!"

"I am very grateful that organizations such as these exist. It gives me that extra confidence that is needed in the education world to know that my students will not be negated an opportunity to be creative and be able to explore through research or academic coursework."

"I am humbled and very grateful for such a blessing. I am very pleased and honored to be a recipient of the NSHSS grant award. The grant will be of great assistance in providing extra resources to help with teaching and learning AP Biology. The 3D courseware will be of great help with AP Biology, where both I and my students are English Language Learners. With our cultural background and upbringing, most of our learning process that occurs at home is mostly practicing and observing. Having the resources to purchase online programs to be utilized for teaching and learning will be of great benefit."

"This grant provides our students with the opportunity to focus on the important things, like engineering and learning, rather than on where the money for their designs will come from. We are very grateful for this opportunity!"
