NSHSS Panel Featured in Sundance Festival Prize Winner Promo
On August 11, 2020, the National Society of High School Scholars had the privilege of hosting an exclusive pre-screening of the Apple TV, A24 documentary “Boys State”. The screening was followed by a Q&A session featuring two subjects from the film, the filmmakers, and moderated by NSHSS Fellows Executive Board Member Kolby Keo. This online event was attended by almost 500 members of the NSHSS community.
“Boys State” follows a week-long annual program in which a thousand Texas high school seniors gather for an elaborate mock exercise: building their own state government. The film holds up a mirror to the American democracy, stressing the importance of participating as citizens, and offering unmistakable hope. View the trailer featuring the NSHSS panel here.
