The National Society of High School Scholars To Present Workshop At The 2016 Summer Youth Assembly At The United Nations Headquarters
ATLANTA – August 8, 2016 – The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS), an international honor society dedicated to highlighting the accomplishments of students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, scholarship and community commitment, announced today that five of its lifetime members will present a panel discussion titled “Learn. Lead. Change the World. Transforming Vision into Action,” on Thursday, August 11, 2016 during the Summer Youth Assembly at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
The Youth Assembly is the largest and longest-running youth conference at the United Nations. It is a unique platform that fosters dialogue and generates partnerships between exceptional youth, United Nations high officials and staff, the private sector and civil society.
Claes Nobel established The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) with James W. Lewis as an international honors organization to connect scholars with enriching experiences, scholarships and resources to advance their academics, personal growth and career interests. Nobel said, “World betterment and the Nobel family have been synonymous for 115 years. My great-grand uncle, Dr. Alfred Nobel, started this mission by establishing The Nobel Peace Prize. While it is an honor and a privilege to recognize the greatest scientists, poets, statesmen and philosophers among us, there is a special place in my heart for encouraging and recognizing the youth of the world.”
During the workshop, NSHSS Vice President Beth Pann will moderate a discussion about the ways in which young leaders are impacting The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Active in education, health, social justice, peace, environmental, economic and poverty issues, NSHSS scholars significantly contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals. In this session, attendees of the Youth Assembly will meet NSHSS members who are enthusiastically transforming their vision for a better world into reality.

An aspiring pediatric dentist, Lubitz currently works as a graduate assistant for the School of Health, Technology, and Management in the Office of Academic and Student Affairs at the Health Sciences Center and clinical research at the Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine.
