Eugene Yoo
Eugene is an avid chess player, violinist, and researcher and hopes to one day participate in politics. In high school, he conducted research on bike safety in Union City, affordable housing in Providence, and disaster preparedness efforts in East Coast schools. In addition to his academic pursuits, Eugene started playing chess in kindergarten and is currently a FIDE Candidate Master. Last year, he received the Scholar-Chessplayer Award and represented Team USA in the World Youth Chess Championship. Eugene is also the founder of NYC Chess Connections, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides chess education for underserved students. He will be studying at MIT this fall.
Five (5) High school or college students interested in politics will receive $1,000 for their potential and interest to drive positive change in our communities and the world at large.
